These are a collection of portraits—extracted from the unexceptional moments of birthday parties, barbecues, and gatherings past. The nameless subjects are related to one another only by their grayed skin tones, dated fashion and stillness.
Here, fictionally configured spaces have been shaped by something new and something gone, all bridged by conflicting generations of color. These painted spaces reimagine a balance between structure and invention. Each presents an interpretation of abstracted realism, enveloped by geometric elements. The visual elements of the ordinary masking the sublime and the persistent overwhelming the faded, work to form visual rhythms.
